A Blender Project
My attempt at Blender Guru's Beginner Blender Donut. This was a lot of fun and definitely a change from my other coding heavy projects. This is my first Blender / artist type project. My intention was to better understand the artistic side of game development and maybe even eventually create some assets of my own.
With this tutorial series I learned how to navigate Blender and use several hotkey shortcuts. I learned how to work with modifiers and did some modeling of the donut and icing. After getting general shapes, sculpting was used to add bumps and imperfections to the donut and to create the drips of icing. The project was set up to render in the viewport using eevee and the final render used cycles.
Next came image texturing and texture painting for the whitish middle area of the donut. Geometry nodes were used for the sprinkles (slide three) and I randomized their colors. After animating the donut spin, falling sprinkle particles were added to the background. The lighting includes rim, key, and fill lights. Composition for the video and set up for the final render followed. The final render of all the individual images took about four hours which I then compiled into the video seen in slide one.
